CEMETERY REGULATIONS

The Clerk reported having received representations from Vokes & Beck Ltd to the effect that the regulations concerning inscriptions, which allow painting only in black or white, were unduly restrictive.  It appeared that they were based on an outdated version of the Diocesan regulations.  He had circulated an appendix containing the latest diocesan rules.

RESOLVED that the Cemetery Regulations be amended by the incorporation of an appendix entitled “Painted Inscriptions” with consequential alterations to the text of the regulations.

35/04

SURVEY OF PARISH HALL

The Clerk referred to Mrs Esplin-Jones report to the last council meeting concerning informal discussions that had taken place relating to the future of the Parish Hall, and Captain Day’s options paper which had been circulated to members.  Several members had suggested that a survey be undertaken to establish the current state of the hall as a basis for consideration of its future.

After discussion it was agreed that a survey be commissioned from Messrs Bernard Cole & Partner at a cost not exceeding £2,500 plus VAT.

The survey should address the likely need for repair over the next few years together with any structural issues that might restrict options for alteration.  Specific issues mentioned by councillors were the damp course, roof timbers and covering, fascias, insulation, plastering, heating, electrics, ground levels, community room floor, kitchen/surgery area.
